The name is quite intriguing. Why Thirsty? I got to say, “yes I’m quite thirsty in fact”. In living in the San Gabriel Valley, you expect good Asian food. Why Thirsty doesn’t fall short in delivering quality Taiwanese food.
The clientele is mainly families, with a few sprinkles of young college kids. But knowing that the main clientele source is older folks, you know that you can’t go wrong with the food. I like to think the customer base says a lot about the place and quality.
One of the most popular dishes is the Railroad. Basically it’s pork chop with rice, corn, pickles, broccoli, and half a tea egg. Although the flavor is great, I still prefer pork chop with the bone. Simply, because it adds more flavor to the meat. Nonetheless, the pork chop is tender and flavorful.
A staple of the Taiwanese cuisine is “popcorn chicken” also known as crispy chicken. Traditionally served with fried basil leaves for additional flavor. Still one of the best popcorn chicken appetizers I’ve had around this area. Good ratio of chicken and crispyness.
As for the drinks, I’ve only had the Formosa Milk Tea. It is a blend of oolong tea leaves with a splash of half and half on top. Of course, sweetened with fructose.
